Born 1959 in Wellington, New Zealand.
Graduated in English from Victoria University and received the ICI Young Writers Bursary, a Scholarship in Letters (1993) and the Victoria University writing fellowship (1997).
Lives in Kelburne, Wellington, NZ with her husband and son.
