Definitions of Fantasy

The American Heritage Dictionary defines fantasy as: Fiction characterized by highly fanciful or supernatural elements.

Fantasy fiction contains elements of magic, myth, archetypes, and/or lore. It differs from other fiction in that some events, characters, or abilities might only be explained through magic or myth.

There are loads of definitions available, including some that are VERY in depth. Those will hopefully get posted later. In the meantime, enjoy some people (authors, publishers, etcetera) writing on fantasy and see the fantasy subgenres below…
